It will tell either reservation is in waitlisted status, RAC or confirmed.

Passengers can check their PNR status by their smartphone. There are a lot of applications and websites available on search engines. Via Indian Railways PNR Status, one can know the current status of their PNR number. The PNR number crosses many stages after their generation.

If the seats are vacant at the time of booking, then your seat will be confirmed at the same time. But if the seats are not vacant or you have booked it by PRS, then your ticket must cross the various stages like RAC, Waiting or confirmed.
